Our Services
Digital mammography for both screening and diagnostic mammograms.Coordinated and Convenient Care
On the day of your appointment, you'll go to the Women's Imaging Center, which is located in the Beaufort Medical Plaza next to the hospital at 989 Ribaut Road, Ste. 110.
After you check in with our receptionist and confirm your information, you'll be directed by a technologist to a changing room, which opens from two sides so that you can go to the mammogram area in privacy.
In the room, you'll find a cloth cape to drape over your shoulders. Our certified technologists use mammopads for each test, providing you with a softer, more comfortable experience.
Once your test is complete, you'll get dressed and return to the waiting room, where you can have a cup of coffee or tea while the results are examined by our on-site radiologist.
If everything looks good, the person who performed your test will give you a card stating the results of the test and recommending when you should return for a follow-up exam. Your doctor will receive a copy of the results as well.
If the test reveals anything of concern, the radiologist will contact your doctor to discuss how to move forward. The radiologist will then visit with you to discuss the results and recommendations.
If you wish, you'll be able to have more definitive tests done right then and there.
You'll receive guidance and assurance from our Breast Care Coordinator throughout the process, so that when you leave you will have all your questions answered and you will know who to contact if you have other questions later.
